A Couple of Cards

I have a hard time using purple for some reason.  The card never turns out the way I originally anticipate it will.  But here are two cards with different shades of purple.  One a thank you card and the other for a birthday.  They're not my favorite, but thought I would post them anyway.  Does anyone have any tips with using purple?  I'd love to hear them!!  Have a great weekend everyone!!

Live Every Moment

I was going to use this Impression Obsession stamp for Valentine's Day and then I ran across this yellow and black plaid ribbon in my stash.  So I thought this would be good for an anniversary card too.  There's just something I love about this color combination.  The flower was made from the new die set from My Favorite Things that I just got in the mail and couldn't wait to try.  Love it!!

Merry Christmas in January!

Well....I can't believe tomorrow is the 25th of the month already and of course I hadn't made a Christmas card yet.  Yes!!....I'm actually going to make a Christmas card every 25th of the month.  It might sound crazy (and I probably am) but they will sure come in handy when Christmas rolls around again.  This card is really simple and made with all Papertrey Ink products.  Their card stock and printed paper go together so well you can't go wrong!  So Merry Christmas in January!!  Thanks for stopping by!!  Have a great week!!

Dotted Dahlias

Cards don't always have to be complicated or difficult to be beautiful.  This is a really simple but pretty card.  One of my favorite color combinations too, pink, black and white.  The flower is from Layers Of Color Dotted Dahlias stamp set.  I got the inspiration from Jennie at Stamping Away The Day.  She is on the Design Team and has great ideas.  I stamped the flower in two sizes with ColorBox Black ink and embossed it with Ranger's Super Fine Detail Clear powder.  I colored in each flower with Copic's RV25-Dog Rose Flower.
You could color this flower in any color and it would turn out beautiful.  In fact, I think I'm going to do just that!  Make up a few of them and then just add a sentiment when I need a card.  I think it would be good for many occasions.  Until next time!!  I hope you're having the best day!

Happy Birthday Dad!

I don't know anyone who likes to make cards that doesn't find it difficult to make a card for a man.  You don't want it to be boring, but it's so much easier to add a bow or a flower to a card.  So here is my card for my father-in-law.  He is such a special man.  You just can't find a better person than him.

I chose the tree from Gina K Design stamp set called Fanciful Fall.  I thought it was appropriate seeing that his confirmation verse, his father's and my husband's is John 15:5 "You are the vine and I am the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing."  Inside the card I used a message from Gina K's Masculine Messages stamp set.  It says "Dad, you're such a blessing".  And it's so true.  We love you Dad!!

Start each day with "whee"!!

Is this just the cutest sentiment??  Doesn't it remind you of a warm summer day when you were a kid and had no cares or worries??  Just how hi you could swing.  I am just loving all of the great images and dies from My Favorite Things.  Their products are outstanding and the service is unlike any other.  They are just great!!

Thanks!

Happy New Year! Along with the usual loose weight, exercise resolutions, I made a couple blogger ones too.  One....I'm going to post more and two....make a Christmas card every 25th of the month.  I did this in 2010 and it was great to have several Christmas cards when the holidays rolled around.  Something that I didn't have this year!!  Besides that, I have so many stamps that are just waiting to be inked, it will be good to get them out and actually make something with them!! LoL!  Here is a thank you card that I made with these great new Loopsy-Daisy Dies from Papertrey Ink.  They were so much fun to make and ohhhh the possibilities.

It's our turn to have Christmas this year.  I wanted to keep the invitation simple, for a change :).  With Papertrey Ink supplies, they make it easy.  I love how their paper and felt match perfectly.  And I like how it turned out, if I do say so myself!! LOL!  Thanks for stopping by and I'll be back to post a couple Christmas cards later.

Felt Flower-Birthday Card

This is just a simple birthday card, but I really love how these felt flowers turn out.  Of course they are pretty simple with the die cut from My Favorite Things.  It's called Die-namics Loopy Bloom.  They are too much fun to make.  Supplies from Papertray Ink were used to make the rest of the card.  I'll try to update this post later with all of the details.  One card down and another two to go.  My new goal for this winter is to make a good supply of birthday, baby and whatever types of cards I can make!!

Here's a close up of the flower.  Aren't they just too cute??

Thank You So Very Much

I needed a thank you card and thought I would practice with my Copic coloring. I'm taking three Copic classes this week and I'm so excited to learn more about how to shade, feathering, color hair and anything else I can learn.  So I'm sure you'll be seeing more copics on my blog after this week!  Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by.  I hope to be back with another card later in the week.   See you soon!

Baby Gift

Our choir director at our church and his wife are expecting their first child next month.  My husband is very active in the choir.  He sings and plays the trumpet.  I'm just the groupy and the sound check person.  I finally finished the baby blanket just in time to give it to them tomorrow.  I just got Papertrey Ink's Onsie Die Cut, so I thought I'd try making one.  I'm really happy how they both turned out.  The blanket is really soft and I love the pattern.  The card was a little challenge.  Not making the actual card but picking out a generic color.  They don't know if it's a boy or a girl.  They decided to wait until the baby arrives.  How exciting!!

I hope everyone is having a great weekend.  It's really hot here, so I'll be spending a lot of time in our basement in the next week.  If you haven't heard me say it before, I HATE the heat!!!   :)   Thanks for stopping by!!

Inside the card is the sentiment "A baby is a kiss from Heaven".  How true.  Here's the baby blanket. It photographed a little yellow, but it is white.

Thinking of You

I've been missing in action for awhile.  We've been busy working on our yard and garden.  If you haven't had a chance to check out my other blog Barb's Beautiful Blooms hop on over.  It will help explain why I haven't been making cards lately.  We decided in the spring to raise honey bees.  It has been so much fun and quite the learning experience.  I've been trying to capture our journey with pictures.  Let me know what you think!!

I did actually manage to complete a card today.  Our neighbor has been ill and just wanted to let her know we're thinking of her.  She loves Zebras, so when I saw this cute little one from Papertrey Ink, I knew it would be perfect for her.

I hope everyone has a safe and happy 4th of July!!  I love fireworks, so I know we will be watching tonight if the weather holds out.  Enjoy!!

Pinwheel

So am I the last card maker on the planet to do a pinwheel??  And to find out they are so easy!! OWH (Operation Write Home) had a tutorial a while back and I've been wanting to give it a try. Here are the details in case I'm not alone.  Cut 2 squares 2 5/8 inches. Place these two squares at right angles and adhere together. This becomes your base for your pinwheel.

Cut eight squares (4 each of contrasting colors) at 1 1/4 inches. I wanted to add some texture to my small squares, so I embossed four of them with Swiss Dots.  Layer the squares alternating colors and adhere.

Here is the finished project.  You could do so much with these. You could add a bird, different flowers, the possibilities are endless.  I think this would be great for fall with a pumpkin and just think of the things you could add for Christmas!  I will definitely be using this technique again!  Thanks for stopping by!

Papertrey Ink recently came out with this cute bunch of tulips stamp. It's part of the new Friendship Jar Spring Fillers stamp set. They were really fun to color. Easter Bunny Hugs

Hi everyone!  Hope you are all having a wonderful weekend! It's snowing here in Michigan so it made for a great crafting day.  I've been getting back into stamping lately and realized that it has been several months since I've used my Cricut!!  But I picked up the new Kate's ABCs cartridge from Joanns yesterday and had to try it out.  Wow!!  It has the cutest images!!  I didn't know which one to do first.  And I can't wait to try some others.  It is just adorable!!  Since I love bunnies I had to try this one.

I have one quick flashback story for you.  My niece and nephews that I don't get to see as often as I'd like (they don't live in Michigan), know how much I love bunnies.  They are grown up now, but when they were little and Easter time came around they told their Mom..."Aunt Barb must love this time of year, there are bunnies everywhere!"  So so sweet!!

Happy Birthday Card

The other day PTI posted a video showing an easy technique and I thought I would give it a try.  First stamp an image on colored paper using white ink (you can emboss it or not).  Then you take a marker (doesn't have to Copic) that is the same color as the paper and outline the stamped image.  It gives the image depth and is super easy.  This was a quick way to make a card.
